Ben and Jerry’s Cookie Core Giveaway

I used to watch lots of US films and series as a teen and cookies - pre the Maryland cookies here, they were a lust after food along with many other exotic foods, Chinese in cardboard cartons. Oreos and milk.
Graham Crackers, fried chicken and greens, still not found these.
Ice cream in round tubs was another wish list US eating dream, teen girls having sleepovers eating from their own pint tub, seemed so cool.
Here growing up we had vanilla, raspberry ripple or chocolate. These were in blocks to add to wafers or a family plastic tub that sliced your fingers if you were a bit too eager to try to get into it.

Now we have huge arrays of tubs to eat but among my favourites are Ben and Jerry's. I know I review lots of items but I have followed this company for years before I knew what a blog was!!
Their fights against cloning, the giant baked Alaska protest, these two guys make fascinating reading.

They also make fascinating ice cream which is really the reason you are here. I was asked to try the new Cookie Cores, hardly a chore!

So we had a girly taste test, Conor was honorary girl for the proceedings as he felt that Paige, his gorgeous girlfriend Jess and I may not make good reviewers and said he would be better.

I have only tried two, as I want to give a reader a chance to try one and Ben and Jerry's OKed me not trying all three.

We dived into the first, the Speculoos? Specu-Love I noticed a few minutes out of the freezer and it easily spoonable, if this is a word, ready to eat quite quickly possibly a better phrase.

It has a lovely caramel colour and I spied a huge chunk of cookie at the top. It went all the way to the bottom, no disappointment, I get very upset if ice creams only have a bit for show at the top, you dig down and its all the way, jampacked with goodies.

As well as the soft chewy caramel cookie there are little round crunchy biscuits too. It is so reminiscent in taste to those lovely gingery biscuits you get with a coffee.  Paige loved it, said it was flavoursome, and loved the different textures. Jess enjoyed the ice cream, as she adores caramel, was not so keen on the ginger flavour. Conor (reviewer of the year) was mainly silent and slurping noises were the most he added. When pushed he said "Its great, really good, What?? I'm trying to eat!"

I loved this, deemed my favourite, the caramel creamy cold, chewy biscuit and little crunches makes this a pleasure. Would be fab with a cup of coffee for those who like the hot and cold sensation together. You cannot eat a whole tub of this I imagine, its very rich and extremely luscious.

On to our next serving, the What-a-lotta Chocolate is crushed chocolatey cookie,  surrounded by rich chocolate ice cream, with chocolatey cookie thrown in. This was voted the girls (and Conor's) favourite.
It was decided it tasted like ice cream and brownies, Conor nodded a few times as the silent reviewer I think it was a hit. For me I can tell you the chocolate hit is pretty fabulous. Good, good ice cream a real luxury chocolate taste, smooth, not acrid, just creaminess. The soft sponge like core just adds to the experience.

The  Utter Peanut Butter Clutter with three peanut buttery punches; a core of crunchy peanut butter cookie, peanut butter ice cream and peanut butter cookies too is the one we did not try. I am told its amazing if you like peanut butter, you will adore this core.

Each new Cookie Core is Fairtrade certified and uses sustainable milk and cream from Ben and Jerry’s Caring Dairy farmers - it’s cookies, and so much Core! Available in 500ml tubs from March at RRP £4.99.

    1. Root beer is a type of pop (soda or fizzy drink) that is really nice. You just put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the cup first. It will foam up, so be prepared to pour slowly. I think it's called a black cow if you use chocolate ice cream. If you can't find root beer, so people will make Coke, Pepsi, or cola floats. But I don't think they're as nice.
