Bank Holiday #MorrisonsMum

I was asked by Morrisons and BritMums to spend my Bank Holiday with them as a #MorrisonsMum, I shop at Morrisons already, love the market feel to the store.
Now  its my closest store so I have been shopping there, but sometimes grumbled at the prices compared to other supermarkets.

However my grumbling has to cease. Morrisons have cut the prices of 1,200 products and this is not just a promotion but will be ongoing, week after week, so I will see the difference.
www.Morrisons.com/pricecuts.

It won't just be the cheaper brands, its across the board on Morrisons own range, the award winning fish, meat and bakery  Morrisons are known for and branded foods.
Bank holidays have changed for us as a family as we do not tend to go out as we used to, Granny is housebound, however we just make it special with sharing time together and eating plays a large part of the fun.

Armed with £80 of Morrisons vouchers I set off to shop for the Bank holiday!

The above items I regularly buy and I was already saving in the first department!!

As I wandered through the store its plain to see the savings!

Essentials I buy like flour, bread, dairy, sauces all down.

Going to need a bigger trolley!!

Well all that shopping I needed a treat and at 50p for a cream cake, who could blame me!!

Saturday Night is steak night!! Th entire meal was £5.39 a head!

Its a firm favourite with the whole crew, something we all choose to eat if we are in a restaurant.

Teamed with Dauphinoise potatoes, baked stuffed mushrooms, fresh green beans and vine tomatoes.

The vine tomatoes are my favourite tomatoes at a now permanent price of 99p for 6.

I was very pleased as Morrisons have rump steak at half price - Was £15.48/Kg, Now £7.74/Kg, we all had steaks weighing 1lb so were thoroughly treated!

Our plans altered on Sunday, we had planned a roast, but as the weather was fantastic, we opted for lunch outdoors and then a chicken tray bake with roasted potatoes and garlic recipe here as I could not fit all this in!

Lunch a humongous picnic style affair, salad with Caesar dressing made with all the new lower price goodies at Morrisons, cost £2.69, the lattice pork pie was 99p, look at the size of it!

Teamed with couscous, samosas, pasta salad and fresh bloomers on offer 2 for £1,  I costed this at  £1.87 a head!
The sun was shining, we lazed and grazed all afternoon. Our friends turned up and so it was time to get out a nice afternoon treat!!

The Toffee Sponge Pudding cake looked so amazing in the shop, I had to pop it into my trolley, it was £2.50 and amply served 8 of us.

We all opted for it warmed served with Morrisons clotted cream and those fab raspberries and strawberries portions for 56p a head give or take a few pence!

The evening meal was another bargain, working on a meal for 4 this cost so my maths would work out. The above meal cost £2. 04 a head.
The chicken is on special offer 8 pieces for £7.50, thighs 7 for £3.49 new potatoes for £1, red onions half a bag used were 49p as were the red chillies. Lemon for 25p, garlic 25p, my herbs were already in the cupboard and rosemary from the garden. Green beans at 49p a pack.

Monday was the roast day. The chicken was £3.80 this fed 5 and an extra meal for one the next day, I freeze the carcass after cooking to make a very cheap chicken noodle soup see here. With the carrots, Morrisons own cauliflower cheese, tenderstem broccoli, Yorkshires (homemade) and homemade gravy made with juices, veg water and gravy browning! The meal I costed at £7.69 for 6.

We ate outside as the weather was still great!!

All in all my grumbling has gone, the new I'm Cheaper prices are great and I will be back regularly! Paige is stocking up for uni and is very happy the prices are down. My friend was off to buy cake and veg! Think we all feel happier with the cuts, I would just like to say Morrisons if you read this, please cut the free range eggs as well. xx

Look out for the yellow markers when you shop in store and online at morrisons.com. If it says I’m cheaper you know it’s staying cheaper.

I received vouchers from Morrisons and BritMums in order to write this post! My views are my own!

    1. Thank you Eileen, it was a very pleasant weekend and I am still using food this week, the fruit at that price is still fresh, so they get my fresh produce loyalty.

  3. Lots of tasty meals, Jo! I wish we had a bigger Morrisons around, as our local doesn't have much of a choice.

    1. Yes we are lucky, I actually visit a bigger one if I can get care for Granny, the big stores are fab. Mine is medium sized and a smaller one has opened up, possibly the size you have.

  10. This is good to read and love your meals. I do like Morrisons, especially the market area, but had found they were getting a bit pricey compared to their rivals. Worth another look now.
