Chicken Parmagiana

Newman's Own is launching its original range of delicious, all natural Pasta Sauces in the UK.  Available from Waitrose, the range of Pasta Sauces offer something for all the family,  and are perfect for a wide range of pasta dishes.

I was delighted to have the chance to try them out, I love cooking from scratch as you know, but its lovely to have a good store cupboard stock of jars of sauces, for those days when I am shattered. Yet I still can make a good recipe and bypass all the chopping and slaving.

Free from artificial colours and flavours, makes me happy, the ingredients all are normal foods you expect in a sauce.
Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs is another benefit.

Founded by Hollywood actor Paul Newman, Newman’s Own already has a popular range of salad dressings, BBQ sauces and marinades available.

I decided to try the Sockarooni sauce, Paul's own recipe, full of tomatoes, red and green peppers I just love the name, I made a Chicken Parmagiana style dish. Quick and easy to prepare with a jar.
Ingredients
4 Chicken breasts
1 jar of Sockarooni sauce
75 grams of fresh breadcrumbs I used white as the brown was a bit too fresh.
75 grams Parmesan cheese.

Easy easy method

Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas Mark 6/180°C fan oven.
Place the chicken into an ovenproof dish.
Pour over the sauce.
Mix together the cheese and the breadcrumbs and sprinkle over the chicken.
Bake in the oven for 30- 35 minutes.

I served with a crisp salad.

The sauce was fresh tasting and I really loved the depth of the flavour. I will happily use again.

Each of the flavours in the Newman’s Own Pasta Sauce range brings a different taste and character to the table. The flavours available include:
·         Basilico: A flavoursome combo of tomatoes and basil
·         Bolognese: A lip smacking family favourite!
·         Diavolo: A devilishly hot concoction of tomatoes and chilli
·         Sockarooni: Paul’s mischievous jumble of tomatoes, green and red peppers & more!

Available from Waitrose RRP £1.99, 350ml

I received the Newman's Own pasta sauces to review, I received no other incentive, my recipe and opinions are my own.

    1. No indeed, I make my own pasta sauces and they cost roughly the same, as these have natural ingredients I am happy to use in a rush.

  3. I do find it is handy to have good quality ready made sauces in the cupboard for those days when time runs out, nice to see they are vegetarian too, so we can replace your chicken with some aubergine!
