There is a brand new M&S food range for this Autumn, ‘Cook With’. M&S has one of the most innovate ranges of Autumn food on the high street, and is now a one-stop-shop for essential and special cooking ingredients, which are perfect for either mid-week meals or for entertaining.
‘Cook With’ - available in M&S stores now - is a delicious range of inspiring and authentic ingredients, which are perfect for putting together great meals in minutes.
The new Paella Recipe Paste above, for example - just add rice, chicken and prawns and your chosen vegetables for a really tasty dish (and quick!) dish.
I was sent the Risotto sauce to try and I was keen to give it a go, it recommends butternut squash and chicken, not being a mad fan of squash, I swapped. i know mushrooms are great for risottos so used some button ones, chopped in half.
What I loved about the dish is the ease of preparation. I just fried the chicken for a few minutes, adding the mushroom, then added in the water, rice and M&S risotto sauce. I was slightly dubious with the addition of all the water at the beginning. I am used to slowly adding the liquid and stirring.
I went with it though for the purpose of the review, set the timer and to be honest only remembered to stir once.
I added a little more sage at the last minute and served.
We loved it, the flavours really are really fresh, it was perfectly cooked, creamy, warming, proper comfort food for a cold evening. Following the exact method on the jar, worked, which makes life easier.
A big thumbs up, I will be trying some more of the range, the jars are priced at £1.99 and are available in store now.
They include Fire Roasted Tomato and Rosemary paste, Peppercorn paste, Brown Ale and Rosemary, Paste and many more.
Disclosure: I was provided with some products from M&S to use. My opinions are mine and not influenced by the products.
Ohh, I haven't had risotto before and liked it, but this looks delicious! Mouthwatering!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfectly cooked without the need to stand and stir, the flavours made it less stodgy than some. Thanks.
DeleteNow this looks lovely - I have to admit M&S seem to do some really tasty meals. x
ReplyDeleteI love the ready meals, but this one you get to have a little of the glory, without the sweat. I thought the price was good for a really good paste as well.

ReplyDeleteThank you.I must try these squash type risotto, but never really liked it on its own.
DeleteI love risotto but I detest making it, your version sounds so simple. The Paella in the first picture looks delicious.

DeleteI like squash so I'd have kept it in. I do like risotto.
ReplyDeleteYes I need to try too.
DeleteI like the sound of this. I love Risotto and the pre-made ones always seem to have mushrooms enough, so would love to make some myself :-)
ReplyDeleteI love risotto especially mushroom
ReplyDeletenot tried but looking forward to it
ReplyDeleteIs there a substitute to the risotto paste? im finding it hard to get hold of a jar!
ReplyDeleteThey sell in the larger M&S food halls. I picked one recently. The only thing I could suggest to be a close copy of it would be to email M&S and ask for an ingredient list for it and maybe just use a 'from scratch'risotto recipe using the jar ingredients.
