This year I am feeling very healthy. I'm regularly eating breakfast, eating well over my five a day, at my optimum weight thanks to Slimming World and feeling good.
However I do get energy dips and I am aware my hydration is not what it should be.
BRITA have kitted me out with a jug and a Fill and Go water bottle which filters water to drink on the go, and challenged me to a month of getting my recommended fluid intake in filtered water.
Well February is known for being a wet month!
Well February is known for being a wet month!
They were interested in how upping my filtered water intake makes me feel, firstly I wanted to get some facts to motivate me so I went on a search and found some great facts from Brita and through the world wide web!
1. Water is a healthy drink, especially if filtered and contains no calories.
2. I know from my time eating with Slimming World that the brain sometimes will be sending out messages and we can mistake them for hunger messages, when in fact your body just might be thirsty. I have tried listening a bit more carefully and often having a drink will make me feel full again, especially if I am eating regularly.
Talking about the brain, when our bodies become dehydrated our attention and concentration can decrease by 13% and short term memory by 7%, so drinking water can increase brainpower. I certainly need it.
My results in at the end of the month are pretty convincing for me.
I feel better, more energy. I did find my sleep disturbed but sorted it out by drinking my water early morning.
Maybe too much information, but my wee is a lovely colour and smells less. My bowels are running better.....(Sorry)
My skin looks better, plumper and more refreshed.
I am certainly less tired, I even would say less crabby, life has been tough and busy here, but I feel I have more energy to ride things out.
All in all its convinced me to drink more. I love the taste of the filtered water, the jug has been great for the kitchen, I keep my water dispenser stocked and ice cold water is always at hand. The family are drinking more, down to the nicer taste.
The Fill and Go Bottle has been used while I was away,I love it, I stayed in a hotel this weekend and was able to have my own filtered water for the night and out and about. I can see this being really great in summer especially.
Great news Brita have 10 Fill & Go Bottles to lucky winners

ReplyDeleteI struggle. I always get headaches and my partner says it's because I don't drink enough water. I never drink tap water though. It has to be bottled or boiled cooled tap water.
ReplyDeleteI love water, only thing I drink nowadays. I drink plenty and I avoid drinking bottled water and only drink filter water. I always have a cup of water beside my bedside before I sleep so if i get thirsty at night, I have water to hand. Always carry water in my bag.
ReplyDeleteI like flavoured water so I drink mine mixed with sugar free squash. I drink four pints a day. I use a big Brita filter that I keep in the fridge but it's seen better days and isn't portable :)
ReplyDeleteI struggle to drink the recommended amount, however i have started carrying a bottle with me and keeping it in font of me because if it's there i'm more likely to drink it
ReplyDeleteI love water, especially when Im abroad, icey cold from a bottle.
ReplyDeleteI add sugar free squash to my water, mix it up in a big jug and aim to drink the whole jug in a day. But my eyes keep sliding towards the many cans of Pesi Max hoarded in my fridge. Nooo!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind drinking water, I would like to cultivate the healthy habit of drinking enough H20. I have tried in the past but have fallen back into my tea and coffee habit. I think that carrying a stylish water bottle could help me stick to my resolution, I have no idea why I find it so difficult to do, especially as I know how good it is for me.
ReplyDeleteI mainly drink water but struggle to drink enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind drinking water. I sometimes put a few drops of lemon or lime juice in the water to maker it taste more interesting
ReplyDeleteI do like water but I do struggle to drink 8 cups a day but I now add some skinny sprinkles to it its like a food substitute so its also part of a diet brilliant to help you reach your goal x

ReplyDeleteI am not particularly good at drinking water and know I should try harder! I have recently gone through chemotherapy and was told to drink at least 8 glasses a day to flush it out of my system, I really struggled with that! I'm trying to get fit now so have vowed to drink more water as part of my keep fit campaign!
ReplyDeleteI try my best to drink a litre a day

ReplyDeleteMichelle D

ReplyDeleteanna m
I keep a tally of the amount of water I drink. A few yrs ago I had three kidney stone surgeries in 8 weeks and I do not want to ever go through that pain again. I have water plain or flavored with a bit of lemon or pomegranates every now and again. Due to health issues I always have water near by me.

ReplyDeleteI love water but find it hard to fit in my daily amount
ReplyDeleteI do not drink as much water as I should, I find it easier in the warmer months but I am afraid hot drinks take over some of the time.
ReplyDeleteI have struggled with water my whole life. I don't know why. I just have a thing about it. It needs to be cold, otherwise I can't drink it and one of these bottles would be great for me because I could store it in the fridge. I really, really need to drink a lot more water than I do.
ReplyDeleteI definitely don't drink enough water but I do have a bottle on my desk which i sip throughout the day!
ReplyDeleteWater is okay, but a bit too tasteless for my liking.
ReplyDeleteI like to spice it up a bit with fruit and herbal teas.. With about 50 different varieties of tea in the house (yeah I'm a bit mad), theres always something to choose from and if I don't want 1 thing, I'm more than happy to drink another!.
Most of them are also caffeine free so I get the satisfaction of knowing I won't be stuck wide awake at night either.
I always have a bottle of water for me. I much prefer it to drinking anything sweet! plus I suffer from bad skin, and drinking lots of water definitely helps.

ReplyDeleteI love drinking water
ReplyDeleteA good tip is to leave several bottles around the house to remind you to keep drinking.
ReplyDeleteI do drink quite a bit of water, I find it can be refreshing. I prefer it from the tap rather than the bottle.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that if you run off tap water into a jug and leave it standing for an hour or so that will have exactly the same effect as a filter and is a lot cheaper.
ReplyDeleteI always have a jug of water in the kitchen ready for the tea making.
Try it ;)
I drink loads of water. Don't mind tap either. But can't stand fizzy or flavoured water. :) Always have done. Oh and if you are drinking tap water and are waiting for tap water to run cold, fill the kettle up with the "warmish" water. Good luck to all. :) :D x
ReplyDeleteI'm very fussy where water is concerned. It has to be fresh and freezing cold or I won't drink it. My daughter will drink it over anything else, but not me. If it's not cold enough, I won't touch it.

ReplyDeleteWow what a great idea. I certainly dont drink enough water, it seems like a chore to get down the daily amount. My kids do drink a lot of water or dilute juice. I think its a fab idea the kids being able to take water bottles into class at school. At least they drink more and stay hydrated.
ReplyDeleteI love water when its really cold
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of drinking water on its own but I drink it with sugar free robinsons constantly!
ReplyDeleteI dont drink that much water! I really need to drink more!

I struggle to drink enough water all the time, I do try but leading a busy life it's not easy
ReplyDeleteI struggle with water,I find if I force myself to drink it then it gets easier and I actually start to enjoy it but if I stop again or have juice etc then it is hard to start drinking water again. I hate tap water too so maybe filtered would help!
ReplyDeletei'm not a fan of plain water it really dries my mouth out!

ReplyDeleteI love water & I do think lots of it even though I do I have to regular go into hospital to be rehydrated with a drip as I have crohns diease. It's so important to keep your body refreshed with water. I do often add salts & vitamins to my water & I like to have some flavour so I use high juice squash. I can't drink water straight from a tap without it being filtered first so one of these would be amazing for me.
ReplyDeleteI love water but find it hard to drink lots in the winter, my top tip would be have a bottle of water near you at all times that way you are much more likely to drink more!
ReplyDeleteI love drinking water - not that keen on hot drinks. When at home, I keep a glass next to the sink so that each time I go in the kitchen, I have another drink.
ReplyDeleteWater is pretty much all I drink most days as I don't drink tea or coffee. I keep a bottle with me, although have been poor the last few days in a new job. Need to get a bigger bottle back again. My tip is to have a bottle with you, but know how many times a day you need to fill it to get your quota.

ReplyDeleteI like water but only if it is ice cold or with ice.
ReplyDeleteI don't drink water because it's good for me, i drink it because I like it.
