Lush Emotional Brilliance Colour Wheel

EMOTIONAL BRILLIANCE
Spin the wheel to discover what colours you should be wearing today

Spin the Emotional Brilliance Colour Wheel to get your personalised colour reading – you choose the three colours that stand out to you at that time and these colours are linked to certain words that reveal a little bit about your current state of mind.  You then wear the colour to feel the word, you word-up!

I had a go on the wheel to see what colours I should wear today. Results below.

I like the idea of seeing what colours suit my demeanour, and I know that colour therapy is quite healing. This is fun, but I am also going through some really tricky personal dealings and was really interested by my results. I did not pick favourite colours at all, I just randomly picked the ones that stood out.

1. Your Strength or Weakness

Stay on track

Colour Reading

When all around you people are losing their minds, never fear. You have FOCUS as a strength so you will keep yours. If you keep focused and stay on track, it really is as simple as that. Using your strength of FOCUS people will find it hard to derail you.

2. Your Subconscious

Now, I can see clearly

Colour Reading

Are you rushing headlong into something, perhaps because your subconscious is asking you to use a little PERSPECTIVE so you can clearly see where, when and with whom you should be.

3. Your Aspiration

Feeling lighter

Colour Reading

What a wonderful talent you have here - to feel LIFTED, to feel lighter, to turn big issues into less of a problem, perhaps by looking at them in a more light hearted way. You can use this talent to lift the mood of others or even situations perhaps. Smile a LIFTED smile and see how infectious that can be. One smile will surely lead to another, if only of your own.

I was quite taken aback by the above, I really do need focus at the moment, which way to go, how to deal with the bigger things and not fret the small.

Perspective has been a little lacking and things are a little distorted in my life, and asking if I'm rushing headlong into something was a bit unsettling, a major move and change of life is coming up very fast for me so its a great warning.

I do believe that I can lift or lighten a situation and it is actually my goal for today, before I spun the wheel, rather spooky.

The colours I should be wearing today are Focus on my eyes, just a dot of this.

Perspective on my lips

Then a dot and blend of Lifted.

Now I have the Focus one, Lush sent it to me to try, they must of known I was going to do this today, even more spooky!!!

Give it a go and tell me your spin!!!

This range – consisting of lip colours, eyeliners and eyeshadows - is less about wearing make-up that’s in-season or someone else’s vision of what’s on-trend, as it won’t fulfil your needs. Emotional Brilliance works as a way to wear something that’s designed for you - you choose colours and then the corresponding words, such as ConfidentTake Control or Glamorous, will be significant to you and your needs at that time and you wear them to get that point across.  It’s the power of suggestion – it’s enough that you believe in it, you will then start to behave a certain way.

Lush Co-Founder and Inventor of Emotional Brilliance Rowena Bird comments “I love lipstick, but why wasn’t one great colour ever enough, why was I drawn to a particular one on different days or even sometimes feel the need to change colour part way through a day?  After chatting with like minded lipstick junkies, it struck us that it wasn’t about what clothes we were wearing but more about how we were feeling and so the idea was born”.

Lush has worked with renowned Strategic Behavioural Therapist Lady Kennedy, who specialises in changing people’s behaviour and attitudes, for the list of words.  They are words she uses in her therapy session to alter perceptions and change behaviour.  She specialises in mind care and working on your emotional state, where she takes someone from one state of mind and delivers them in another.  The Emotional Brilliance range brings this form of exclusive mind therapy to the High Street through the art of colour.

The Products
The three chosen colours can be a liquid lipstickliquid eyeliner or a cream eyeshadow.  There are 30 products in the range and all are vegan.  You could pick one of each or you could pick all eyeliners … you don’t have to wear them all at once, but they can be used together.  You will get a handy hints and tips guide on how to wear the colours, as we want you to be the one applying the colours so you create a look you’re happy with. And one you can re-create at home.  You can wear the colours to give a vibrant effect or blend them softly.  It really doesn’t matter, the power of the word will still be there.  You will have used the colours in the way you want with the word in mind.  You will find the thought lasts all day as you begin to truly wear the word.  It’s Emotional Brilliance!

Rowena comments: “The colour that represents your strength you wear when you want to accentuate this.  The colour that resonates with your subconscious need – what your subconscious desires the most – you should wear to remind yourself that you need this. And the colour that represents your talent, you should wear to help achieve your subconscious need.   These are not things that anyone else can predict – it’s all down to you.”

Liquid Lips (£14.50 each)
This patent applied for formula uses Lush’s super softening Ultrabalm as a base, which is a simple blend of organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax and rose wax. All are intensely skin softening and soothing, they also carry pigment incredibly well.  Lips will be brilliantly coloured and left soft, smooth and deeply moisturised. Or, the effect can be softened if you wish by applying with a lip balm.

Liquid Eyeliner (£14.50 each)
Independent and Fantasy are the two eyeliners in the range that have a no-smudge, stay put formula.  As soon as you apply, the formula sets and is incredibly long lasting.  It’s made with a base of eyebright infusion, which is a herb with an ancient tradition of use for the eyes.

The other eyeliners are made with the same base as the cream eyeshadows, which doesn’t set straight away so you have time to blend.  These beautiful colours are therefore easy to use to create a softer look if required.

Cream Eyeshadow (£14.50 each)
The eyecreams can be bold and colourful or less dramatic as the base softens easily into the skin.  The base is a soothing rose petal infusion and skin-softening almond and jojoba oils, so will really care for this most sensitive area.  There’s also glycerine to help carry the colour beautifully over the eye.  The cupuacu butter helps to set the colour pigment nicely, so these eyeshadows and eyeliners offer beautiful colour that stays in place and lasts and lasts.

The Packaging
As with any Lush product, we’d prefer to have no packaging if possible.  For Emotional Brilliance we do have to have some sort of packaging and so a massive amount of effort has gone into ensuring it has as little impact on the planet as possible.  This is very unusual in colour cosmetics where so often the packaging is excessive and not recyclable.  Here everything is recyclable except the little brush inserts and you can re-use those if you wish.

The Emotional Brilliance colours all come in clear glass bottles so you can see the amazing colours and enjoy choosing them.  Also you can see how much product you have left.  Glass is one of the most easily recycled materials globally, but it can also be washed and re-used.

We have designed our own cap with a disposable wand applicator inside.  They are made locally in Poole, Dorset and are recycled from our black pots. Bring back the caps into any Lush shop and we will return them to our supplier, who grinds them up and makes them into new caps or more black pots for us.

The bottles hold 5g of product – normally liquid eyeliner is 2g, so the bottles offer huge value for money.  All the ingredients are listed on a simple label, held onto the bottle with a hair band – to tie your hair back with whilst applying your colours.  So there’s no need for an outer box and extra ingredients insert, it’s all on the tag.

The bottles are extremely versatile, perfect for popping in your handbag or will look lovely on a dressing table.  Collect the whole range and then you can choose which beautiful colour you need as you ‘word up ‘ for your day – brilliant!!

  2. this sounds great fun :-) I do tend to notice a difference in my mood when I wear different colour clothes but I tend to stick to the same make up all the time. I'll have to pop into Lush and have a go :-)

  5. Perspective, Sophisticated and Lifted

I suppose I like looking at things from a different perspective.
    I'm not sophisticated (at all!)
I don't feel lifted at the moment. I definitely need lifting.

    Really interesting and fun wheel!

  6. LOL That was fun! My results:

    1. Dynamic 2. Calm 3. Focus

Col! I am actually feeling quite calm just now and focused too - before the kid finished school for the Summer, I made sure I had planned our days out and indoor activities so we were prepared and it has worked out well! I am going to bookmark it so I can check each day. I am intrigued to see if it matches my mood on a daily basis!?
