New Covent Garden Soup Of The Month helps the RNLI

I love trying the New Covent Garden Soup of the Month range, the March edition Chipotle Chilli Bean and Chorizo has to be a favourite, its smoky rich and this weekend with the rain beating down outside made a warming lunch.

I love that they taste homemade, as I have mentioned before I live very close to where New Covent Garden is made. I often can smell the soup, onions and leeks cooking and am sure I caught the smoky aroma in the last few weeks.

This soup is special for two other reasons than taste.
Firstly its a recipe from somebody who won a competition. The soups this year are winning recipes from the public.

So if you fancy having your recipe on the shelf, then submit to the NCG site, its for September's carton and the theme is Vegetarian

Secondly buying a carton of this months soup helps raise money for a great charity the and was actually made by an RNLI member.

So taste, a good charity and inspiration for making your own soup famous, all make march a good month.

The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) is a charity that saves lives at sea. They provide a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, covering 19,000 miles of coastline around the UK and Republic of Ireland. They also provide a seasonal lifeguard service on more than 160 of the busiest beaches. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 it has saved more than 139,000 lives.

By buying a carton of Chipotle Chilli Bean and Chorizo soup this March - created by crew member Robin Goodlad - you'll be helping us raise money for the RNLI and their life saving work. Robin won our Soup of the Month competition for March, entitled 'Recovery', with a recipe to welcome home any crew member after a cold trip out to sea.
We've long been supporters of the RNLI and with Robin's soup we've pledged to raise at least £6,000 from its sales*. This is on top of the £17,000 that we've already raised from our Smoked Haddock Chowder, which has been going down nicely since 2010.

  1. not so sure about the haddock one but the other one sounds nice. Covent garden soaps are usually lovely, we've bought them a few times x

  2. I had no idea they did chorizo soup! I think my husband would have a fit, he adores chorizo and is obsessed with soup!! I'm not so keen on the more 'out-there' flavours but I do love the Covent Garden chicken soup :-)

  3. Ooh I love the chicken soup I think its my favourite. get your husband some quick while its still in the shops I am reviewing the new one for April next week.

  4. Sounds delicious, warming and healthy!
